Aaron Conner is a prophetic worship leader and songwriter at Riverside Christian Center, a foursquare church in Hamilton, Montana. Aaron frequently itinerates, ministering at conferences and events in the Bitterroot Valley. His heart is for full-time ministry, leading worship and ministering to the broken all around the world.
Aaron Conner’s musical journey started with grade-school piano lessons. His passion was the trumpet for the next several years. But it wasn’t until Senior year in high school that he discovered the guitar: It would become his lifelong passion. After college, Aaron Conner joined with a local youth ministry as a guitarist. It was during this humble season that his passion for guitar would merge with his passion for Jesus. He realized his call wasn’t only for music, but to use music to worship the Father.
In Autumn 2001, Aaron Conner attended Visible Music College in Memphis to pursue qualifications in worship leading. While he was there, God began to stretch him, to urge him out of his comfort zone. Aaron planned on becoming a worship team member, playing guitar, but God had other plans. The school administration saw it fit to train him as a solo artist. He began the process of learning to be a songwriter, and he developed confidence singing in front of others.
After Visible Music College, Aaron Conner returned to the Bitterroot Valley and connected with several local churches and ministries. In 2005 he produced and recorded a worship album with the Crosstrainers Worship Band. This album was called SHIFT. Though the project was a success, it mainly featured cover songs, written by other artists. Aaron knew that God was calling him to record an original worship album, and he felt powerful songs begin to burn in his heart. However, Aaron is patient; he didn’t want to force anything. In the process of waiting, his world turned upside down.
The next two years would be the most difficult season of his life. A season of depression, rejection, and anger. A time of questioning God’s intentions and asking Why me? His cries of worship had turned to cries of desperation. But he refused to give up.
He pressed in.
He learned to believe in God’s goodness and faithfulness, even though circumstances were telling him a different story. In this time of sacrificial worship, God began to release new songs in Aaron’s heart. These songs would propel Aaron into the release of his long-awaited original album, Breakthrough. An album that speaks of God’s faithfulness. An album that tells a story. Birthed out of pain, but released into blessing.
The songs on Breakthrough reveal the healing journey, the desperate cries, God’s response, and encouragement to listeners. Even though Aaron doesn’t fully understand why he had to walk through the valley, he knows God causes all things to work together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. Aaron’s prayer is that his songs open up your heart, that the Holy Spirit would bring breakthrough, healing, and freedom to you physically, spiritually, and emotionally, however and wherever you need a touch from the Father.
